I love this movie for so many reasons. i am too tired to write a review. suffice it to say that i am planning on seeing it again asap and i highly recommend it to everyone.

Denise Richards It’s Complicated

  • Jun. 8th, 2009 at 2:11 PM

i am not too proud to admit i like “reality” shows for mindless entertainment. i saw the series premiere of this show last night and despite denise’s good looks, this show is surprisingly dull. i can’t quite put my finger on why… my best guess would be because i can’t relate to her at all. also, they had her narrate the beginning which was a bad idea because it required her to read out loud. i should’ve known from then that the next 20 minutes of my life would have been better spent doing something else. the bottom line is that the show isn’t horrible but i don’t think i’ll ever watch another episode. it’s embarrassing enough that i watch reality tv. good reality tv is addicting like heroin and leaves you on the edge of your seat. it’s not supposed to leave you indifferent and bored. i don’t think i’ll ever watch this show again unless it somehow picks up and i hear everyone else talk about how great it is. then, i might give it a second shot.

shiseido pureness

  • May. 4th, 2009 at 12:37 AM

I’m a beauty product junkie (the best kind of junkie there is!) so i enjoy trying new beauty products. recently, i ordered shiseido’s pureness foaming cleansing liquid and refreshing cleansing water. i am happy to report that i really love both of these cleansers. i usually use either shiseido’s skincare foaming cleanser or cetaphil cleanser but i don’t like the packaging those products come in and i like trying new products anyway. i get sick of using the same thing over and over. it’s like i have product ADD. first of all, i like the pureness packaging much better. i’m a girl. i like pretty packaging. so sue me. i am actually really impressed by both the cleansers.
the cleansing water is a product that you spray on a cotton pad and than wipe your face with. i guess it’s for times when you want to quickly remove impurities from your face without going through the whole routine. it does a really great job of taking off my make up. i tested it on my eye make up and while it removed liner and shadow very well, it had trouble with waterproof mascara. i had to use my usual shiseido skincare eye makeup remover for that. all in all, it does a great job of cleaning my face without leaving it feeling dry or tight. i’m in love!
the foaming cleanser is great too. i used too much product because it didn’t seem like one pump was enough but a little goes a long way. it foams up to create a really rich lather and feels great on my face and rinses easily. i hate when things don’t foam or doesn’t rinse well. i am pretty happy with it!

i’m back!

  • Apr. 29th, 2009 at 5:25 PM

after an 8 month hiatus from my blog, i’ve returned. First, I’d like to review this new nail polish that I tried. Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Fast Dry Nail Color. it’s really amazing simply because it actually works. i’ve never experienced nail polish like this before. i was actually a salon brand snob usually only wearing OPI or Essie. However, i got really sick of waiting for that stuff to dry. it takes so long that i end up losing patience and then ruining at least a couple of fingers. Long story short, it really really sucks. when i saw this product at Rite Aid, i had to try it. to my surprise, it works great! you only need ONE COAT. it really couldn’t be any easier or more amazing, imo. :) also, it is lasting a long time. i’ve had it on since saturday and now it’s wednesday and there are no noticeable chips. i really love this product. it’s so cheap at $5 a bottle. i really want to get every color they make. i totally recommend this. it’s a life saver for people who don’t have time or patience (like me) but want pretty nails! god, i sound like a commercial.

Also, how f-en depressing is this???!

i am speechless.

also, not to complain incessantly or anything, but some crazy guy has been singing in the street for the last half hour. it’s really annoying. i can hear him and i’m 12 stories up.

when i play this song, my cat purrrrrs

  • Jun. 29th, 2008 at 1:50 AM

LOL! isn’t that funny? i couldn’t believe my ears. my cats are weird but at least they know what they like. hahaha.

i just saw this video for the first time, and i really like it. this is probably one of the better pop videos i’ve seen in a long time. leona looks beautiful and sexy and not sleazy. i like how the song is open to interpretation and the video allows for the different situations that the song refers to. i also like the unifying theme of the song and the video that love is sometimes complicated. that gets two snaps and banana split from me! without being tmi, it has been a very fitting summer theme song for me. le sigh (i’ve always hated people who used that expression that but now i’ve become one).

in other news, i have decided to sell my car as i have determined that i probably won’t need it in the east coast and i definitely will not be able to afford it. i just need a couple of days to be certain. i am thinking about flying instead of driving now, obviously. that will be interesting. i am procrastinating (to my mom’s dismay) making travel plans. they are not fun.

finally, it seems like being sick and sleeping about 14+ hours a day this week on average has totally screwed up my sleeping schedule. at least i’m beginning to feel better and can start being productive again.

roy’s hawaiian fushion

  • Jun. 24th, 2008 at 10:19 AM

this is my second time at roy’s. the first i went, i had these lobster pots-tickers and this duck dish. the duck dish was not that great but the lobster pot-stickers were awesome. i think i ate two orders of the stuff. they were seriously some of the best pot-stickers i’ve ever had in m life. i went back to roy’s this past sunday and got the pot-stickers again but this time it was just okay. it was weird how much the quality changed. i also order the dish pictured above which is this shrimp dish with a fried egg and fried rice. it was much better than the duck. the shrimp were perfectly cooked and flavored and the fried rice had crunchy bits of carrot. i liked the crunch. it was good. now my mouth is watering.

pics from sd

  • Jun. 22nd, 2008 at 6:27 PM

went to sd last night on impulse and took pics of the time there today. first thing we did was eat at a place called george’s at the cove. i’ve been on an ahi tuna kick lately. yesterday, after the beach, we ate at the lazy dog cafe and i had the ahi tuna sandwich and it was so delicious. today, i decided to get the ahi tuna with soba noodles. it was really good but a little salty. my friend got shrimp tacos with mango salsa… we both thought it was just okay. here’s a pic:

our view of the water from where we were sitting wasn’t that great but here’s a pic anyway:

then, we walked around the cove and took the following pictures:

here i am sporting my hot new sunburn and tanlines:

after the cove, we went to this placed called extraordinary desserts. we didn’t think they were that great but here are some pictures anyway:

japanese dolls on the counter ($20 - $75+). i thought they were jars and i tried to take the heads off but i guess they are just for decoration so the heads don’t really come off. :/

these are the desserts beneath the counter holding the japanese dolls:

the desserts we ordered (from top left: passion cake, creme brulee, cheesecake, brownie [don't know the fancy names they gave them]):

the best was the passion cake and the worst was the brownie.

all pictures in this post was taken on my iphone.

what up, dudes? lots of things to cover today so let’s get started!

first of all i have some beauty reviews.

I don’t know if you remember last week when i said i was gonna start trying to look more presentable at work. well, i stayed true to 2/3 of my mission. i did my own nails to save money and i wore make-up every single day of the week. i don’t think that’s happened in years. the only thing i failed to do was stop wearing jeans. i really really failed. not only did i continue to wear jeans but i stopped wearing nice sweaters and nice shoes and instead went back to wearing sweatshirts, hoodies with converse sneakers, nikes and uggs. :( bad, bad prach. lazy prach.

wow, that was a long tangent. anyway, back to the point. i bought three adorable bottles of essie nail polish last week (happily ever after, cabi-o-lait, and no pre-nup) and the OPI topcoat. i am not the type to do my nails (only a couple times a year) so i am not dainty with my hands and this nail polish did an excellent job of withstanding the wear and tear i put it through. i like essie better than OPI now because of the better color selection.

a couple of months ago i left my usual shiseido the skincare facial cleanser to try murad. this stuff is okay but definitely not worth the price. i am never buying this shit again. shiseido is about the same price and it works so much better. murad isn’t bad, it’s just not worth the high price.

today i am trying two new makeup products: l’oreal infalliable and cover girl’s lash blast. i’ll write a detail review sometime soon.

so i was in an unusually great mood on monday morning (normally i am a miserable grumpy mess). i checked my work email as i always did and in my inbox was an open invitation to the faculty to play in the faculty basketball game. we will be playing against some D-list celebs from Power 106. unfortunately, my good mood overtook me and i signed up like a moron. this morning, i was back to my usually grumpy I-hate-everyone-and-I-hate-mornings self and i retracted my email saying that i was gonna play in the basketball game because i’m probably going to end up with no points, no rebounds, no assists, and 20 turnovers. the basketball coach wrote back saying my students would probably love to see me and it isn’t about ability but just having fun but it’s up to me. that email made me feel like a sorry sport so now i’m torn. part of me wants to do it because it seems fun and i like to try new things but part of me would be just as happy spending a quiet evening alone relaxing. any advice? please! i don’t know what i should do! :(

finally, i started out being neutral as far as the democratic candidates went and then i started favoring obama. now, i’m beginning to get tired of hilary’s dishonest and malicious campaigning ways. its seems like every time i turn around she tells another lie.

bosnia
heathcare story
foreign policy “experience”

she also said something about obama’s race helping him with this campaign but i can’t find the article on that now so i’ll just put up this video instead as an example of the dirty dirty mudslinging that goes on regularly in the clinton campaign:

finally, i want to end on a good note. I hope the democratic superdelegates would man up and just support obama. they are supposed to represent the voice of the people and the people have spoken.

i <3 spring break

  • Mar. 24th, 2008 at 8:00 PM

i’m having an awesome spring break. tomorrow i am going on my trip across the country for a couple of days. i return friday. i conveniently lost my driver’s license so i’m going to have to take my passport with me to get through airport security and stuff. just great. also, i thought someone stole my wallet a couple weeks ago so i had to cancel all my cards (actually, i just left it in a coworker’s classroom… silly me) so now i have no credit cards or debit cards so i just have cash. cash and a passport. feels like i’m going to cambodia all over again. :/

i found the perfect eyeshadow: Dreamy Eyes Eyeshadow from Flirt! cosmetics. I bought my first two shades (Golden Lady and Bronze Splash) this summer and they have been my favorite all year. the pigment is rich and bright, i love the shimmer and it’s very wearable and blendable. the best part is that the color stays on forever and are only $10 a pop. compare this to mac eyeshadows which i have spent hundreds of dollars on and they seriously barely last me a couple hours. not only that, but they are a little too sheer for me. i have to pile on the layers just to see the color (i always apply using mac makeup brushes). if i wear them as eyeliner, it starts disappearing by the time i get to wherever i’m going. i’m so used to this happening to me that i bring the damn make up kit with me and have to reapply my makeup before i even get out of the car. it doesn’t look as good anymore because i tend to overcompensate so i end up looking overly made up and thus, starving for attention. even with one of the best shadow primer’s on the market (I use Urban Decay’s Magic Potion), it barely gets me through half the day. today, i went back to Kohl’s and bought three more shades of Dreamy Eyes Eyeshadow (i feel like a retard every time i have to type out that name): Peach Champagne, Coconutty, and Chocoholic. I can’t wait to wear them! The only problem with this brand is that the color spectrum is pretty limited compared to mac’s which has every freakin’ color you could possibly want.

my new obsession is making my laundry smell really good for a long time. i recently bought downey dryer sheets that is scented with vanilla and lavender. i used them last week to wash my sheets and i was really surprised that every night before i went to sleep, i could smell the sweet mixture of vanilla and lavender. wow…. it’s so nice! it lasted ALL week and wasn’t even beginning to fade. today, i did my usual 5 loads of laundry and i wanted ALL my stuff to smell as good as my sheets do i put like 3-5 dryer sheets with each load even though the directions calls for 1 or 2. ahahahaha! it worked though… now my own bedroom and closet smells like lavender and vanilla.

palazzo las vegas

  • Feb. 21st, 2008 at 12:12 PM

i went to vegas this past weekend and stayed at the newly opened palazzo hotel on the strip between the venetian and the wynn. it is a pretty nice hotel but my favorite part is my room/suite. it has a sunken living room and we got upgraded to a strip view so we got a nice view of treasure island across the street through the floor to ceiling windows. there were 3 flat panel tv’s, 2 sinks, a separate shower and tub, and a vanity with a stool and a makeup kit! that last item has to to be one of my favorite parts of the room. the beds were very nice and comfortable and i had a really great time. anyway, it’s a great hotel (except the room service menu was ridiculous: $85 for a bowl of noodles!) and i would highly recommend it and can’t wait to stay here again!

definitely maybe

  • Feb. 15th, 2008 at 11:53 AM

… is just an okay movie. it’s not bad but it is not nearly as good as 27 dresses. it just didn’t have as many funny or touching moments. it was like, a long, relatively dry narration. if you’re dying to see it, wait to rent it or something. $10 would be better spent doing something else because ALL of the best parts of the movie can be seen on the trailer. :(
