I have never used concealer ever before in my life. However, the bags under my eyes are not a good look so i did some research on Makeup Alley Message Boards and decided to try Giorgio Armani’s High Precision Retouch Concealer. I’ve had really good experiences with the Armani makeup products I’ve tried before: shine lip gloss (this thing stays on FOREVER) and one of their lipsticks (i don’t remember which one because i lost it). Honestly, I was skeptical that this highlighter/concealer could erase my dark circles and brighten up my face but it works! oh my god, it works so well! it works when i need a little, and it works when i need a lot. veeery little goes a long way and i am in love with this product! i don’t think i’ve been so excited about a makeup product on a long time. i would definitely recommend this to everyone and anyone - even a concealer novice like me!

6 hours of shopping

i spent 6 hours at south coast plaza with my mom yesterday. it was exhausting, stressful, frustrating, and hard work. i HATE holiday shopping. i hate the crowded parking lots. i hate the crowds. i hate the rude people and bad service. (reminding myself to breathe). i know exactly what i want and i am pretty particular when i shop. the sad thing is that i could only find half of the things i wanted to buy. here’s my shopping adventure and what i got.

first stop, the shiseido counter. i ran into a girl from my college calculus class! it was pretty cool. too bad i was too impatient to get her info so we can stay in touch. at the time i thought it was pretty pointless b/c she was just one of the girls i made friends with b/c she was smart and nice and always knew all the answers. anyway, i used to always borrow my old roommate’s Powdery Foundation and loved the coverage and i finally decided to buy my own after i wasn’t impressed after the trying the chanel counterpart last month. it is so freaking good. i love this. i don’t think that i will look for another foundation. the last ones i tried were stila and mac. stila did not offer enough coverage and mac had too much. shiseido is perfect. plus, i love how the compact isn’t huge and the sponge they give you really thick and good quality unlike the skinny piece of crap i got with my chanel after paying so much more.

everyone i know uses and loves shiseido skincare stuff so i decided to try it b/c i’m a product junkie/conformist. i will follow up with the results after i use it for awhile. i don’t really have problem skin so as long as this doesn’t mess up my skin i will be happy.

omg, so one of the most frustrating things ever is trying to find a charcoal eyeshadow. i looked everywhere! mac, christian dior, shideido - nothing. then i went to sephora and look at every. single. make up. line. there were more options but i didn’t want to spend that much on eyeshadow. well, i ended up spending $71 on eyeshadow. i guess there was no getting around it. however, i am pretty pleased with my purchase. first, i got this 6-pan eye shadow case with a dual end eyeshadow brush. the love this brush! i needed both a new flat brush and a new eyeshadow brush (i’ve been using mac brush #252 for most of my eyeshadow applying needs) so that what the main thing i was sold on. it’s really a good value if you think about it because usually one brush is $20 and i got this case and a multi-end brush for $24.

i only picked out 3 shadows to put in my case b/c i hate shopping for makeup b/c nothing ever looks good on me. i just stuck with colors that you can’t go wrong with.

charm. a sparkley purple.

noir - black for dramatic night looks. ;-)

storm - the much coveted “charcoal” shade i was looking for. after reading reviews of this shade at makeupalley, i realized that there is a bluish tint. argh. oh well. i’m sick of shopping. i don’t want to look anymore. i think this is good enough.

OF COURSE everytime i go to the victoria secret in south coast i run into a student. WTF. not only is this completely awkward but IT KEEPS HAPPENING TO ME!. i am too lazy to find the post of the last time this happened but yeah, it’s annoying. the got the blue flannel pj bottoms on your right in that color and in red. soo cute!!!

i also got 2 pairs of shoes from naturalizer. i feel like an old lady buying my shoes from naturalizer but i NEED TO BE COMFORTABLE. and these shoes do that and are relatively cheap. i think $150 for two pairs is a good deal.

i don’t LOVE these shoes but i need some dressy black sandals and i was sick of looking so i settled on these. at least they’re comfortable.

i’ve been looking for the perfect ballet flats forever and i finally found these. style and comfort. perfect.

believe it or not, i’m going back to the mall today. i need to get some jeans and my mom’s christmas present. i also need to return a sweater i bought yesterday.

happy 4th of july!

hey everyone, hope you’re having an amazing fourth of july if you’re reading this!! (then again, if you’re reading my lame blog on july 4th, how great could your holiday be?) anywho, this is just a post about a bunch of random things and ramblings (aren’t those the best?). first of all, i really like both of the shampoos i bought the other day. I would recommend them. I’ve only used each once or twice but so far so good. i bought some new beauty products today so you can expect to hear more of my nondescript reviews soon. it’s just that i am too lazy to go into detail. i don’t know why i have a blog either.

for july fourth, i’m planning on going to a barbeque with some friends in the afternoon, and then eating dinner with my mom, brother, and friends.

tonight, i rented a very strange independant “film” called mail order wife. half the time i didn’t know whether it was a real documentary or whether it was a mock documentary. turns out, it is a mock docutmentary. as you can tell from the title, it’s about a mail order bride. predictably, the rights and living condititions of asian women around the world are of interest to me since i am an asian woman. this movie is supposed to be a “dark comedy” but i sure was not laughing. i think i found it too offensive to be entertained. it actually depressed me a little because i don’t think that the events in the movie are beyond happening in the real world. in fact, i’m sure that worse things happen in the real world. hence, the depression that resulted. okay, i’m going to go on a slightly racial rant but i am so sick of seeing asian women being protrayed as not only sex objects in movies but also the victims of sex crimes. whether or not it happens in reality (and of course it does), i don’t see anything funny about making a movie about someone who has no rights except to be someone’s maid and !@#$%-er. okay, i feel better. i just read the title of this post and don’t know how i went from wish everyone a happy fouth to the resulting topic du jour. ironic.

what i did on my summer vacation (so far)

  • Jun. 29th, 2006 at 1:58 AM

i’m almost a week into summer and i’ve been enjoying it too much to blog! it isn’t perfect but a bad day on summer vacation is still far better than a regular day at work!!! so lately, i’ve been trying and buying new beauty products since i actually have the time to NOT look all raggedy all the time.

OPI Nailpolish $7.50 - I finally bought my first bottle of OPI Nailpolish and it exceeded my expectations! Even though I’m horrible at anything related to nails I was actually able to paint my nails and it looks really good! not only that but i didn’t use a top coat and the polish is all shiny and wet looking. plus, i am usually really hard on my nails but the polish is staying put. the shade i bought? pink-o de gallo! (how cute is that name?)

Purelogy Volume Shampoo $22.50 - I got this from reading great reviews about it from makeup alley. i have flat hair so i’m always looking for ways to make my hair fuller. believe it or not, which shampoo i use can make a huge difference. i actually haven’t had a chance to use this shampoo yet but expect me to comment on whether or not it worked for me very soon.

Head and Shoulders Volume Shampoo $3 - In addition to having flat hair, I also have dry scalp (I know I must be painting a very lovely picture here). I have always wanted a shampoo that could fix both of these “problems.” Well, it looks like the search is over! I think this must be the first shampoo I’ve ever gotten that promises to tend to both issues. Review also coming soon.

Categories Now Added - I have finally added categories to this site! (one of the things on my summer to-do list) i’m one of those people who can have a gazillion catagories, or just a handful of really general ones. this time, i’m going to try to just do the handful of general ones.

summer - other than that, i’ve just been finishing up on moving, settling into my new place, helping my mom, and playing the sims 2. i wish i could just do that last thing on that list, but whatever. at least i get to play it at all. tomorrow i am going to the beach and then my family and i are eating at a restaurant. once again, i wish i could just play the sims 2 all day and night but it’ll be good because it’ll still be summer!!!!!! :-D
